Game rules
Choose 6-8 of your camp mates and stand in a circle - you'll make up a story with them! Pick someone to start, then as you go around the circle, each person will continue the story by adding a few sentences, even over several rounds. The more interesting, funny and twisty the story, the better. The story begins, "Once upon a time, there was a lame elephant..."
Try the game yourself!
How did you feel you managed to create a twisty but rounded story? How easily did you connect with the story?
Tell us in the comments at the bottom of the page!
What can you learn from this game?
There are situations where the heat of the game or the excitement of sharing our experiences with the other person can make it difficult to be present in a conversation and listen carefully to the other person. This can lead to bad feelings, misunderstandings and difficulties in maintaining a smooth conversation. It is important to live our feelings, but it is also important to listen to the other person at the same time. This can be difficult at first, but with practice we can get better at it!
Do you want to improve? Keep playing, at other times, in other places, with other people!
Play the game in as large a group as possible, or with people you know less or not at all! At the end of the story, try to recall the story as accurately as possible!
